Kim, Look back on all of your posts since October 3rd. Do you realize that you have made it through a week of hard fought sobriety?! Well you have and it should give you confidence that you can do it again. You will still have some battles to fight, but you have proven that you can do this! I'm/we're proud of you; be proud of yourself. Congratulations! MarkJeyu

Hi Mark, Dawned on me that I'm like a neighbor who drives by without speaking. Glad you are posting again. Pam *editing after coffee Hi Neighbor, Thanks for looking after the neighborhood while I/we have been away. Mark/Jeyu

Absolutely Mark . . .
Hey Kim, How are you today? I walked Kay this evening and suddenly, I realized she's not such a little pup anymore . . . . She seems a bit taller today. She's definitely stronger. She saw a squirrel before I did and yanked on the leash to run after it. I almost let go . . . I hadn't noticed her tug was so strong. . . . Hope you got out and about again today. Hope you are feeling better each time you do so! Pam

Hey Jeyu and Pam,
I'm okay. Just had a bad stomach bug which is going around. I found out I've got a stomach ulcer which is pretty scary but doable. It explains why I've been on a diet of toast. Its a relief to finally get an accurate diagnosis. Thanks for asking. Kay sounds awesome Pam. How cute.

Hey Jeyu, I'm still having bad cravings but they are getting less each day. I'm going out to AA tonight to meet up with old friends and get some more support. How are you going?

Hey Kim I just got back to Thailand last night so I'm that much closer to Australia! I guess I'm having jet lag as it's 4:45 am and I'm wide awake. Ugh. You know very well having been at this point before that the cravings will continue to subside however they can come out of nowhere for no reason. Please be patient with this process. It will get better. There are no good reasons to pick up again. Don't put yourself through it again. You've been though enough and whether you realize it or not, you deserve some peace and you deserve to live a happy fulfilled life. The past really is past.
Now, I wonder if it's too early to go find some Pad Krapow Gai...? I'm starving.

Hi Kim
One day at a time. It gets easier. You just have to figure out how to deal with cravings. You have to find your own way. For me it always has been re-directing my thought to something else. Thought is the energy. The more you stay with a particular thought the more energy your generate and empower that particular thought. The trick is to stop it in initial stages. Think of is as a spark that is just glowing. But once you start adding more fuel to it, it becomes a fire, first small, then it grows. The bigger it gets the more difficult it is to extinguish it. As the time progresses cravings (little sparks) are less frequent and less powerful. Wish you all the best
J

Hi Kim. If you don't listen to your cravings, they go because they don't get what they want. The post of J is spot on. Redirect your thoughts to something else and keep being busy. With time, craving disappear because you have learnt to think and react differently to them when they crop up. You become stronger and drinking is the last thing that comes to your mind. It takes time to become free from our drinking habit, it's a tough one, it's a horrible addiction, our body and mind need time to rediscover a new way of living without this crutch. We were prisoners, we have to learn to use our new freedom and how to live our life sober. No rush Kim. You will know soon that the worst is over. Cravings will crop up sometimes but not as powerful anymore and will just go until they fall asleep. It's the 'just one drink' that would wake them up and bring you back to square one. One month is great. You have the strength Kim. It will grow while the need of drinking will diminish and disappear. One day at a time without thinking too much of tomorrow because each sober day makes the following day easier to go through, not only about not drinking but about everything. It's all connected. You don't drink, you become again yourself, you are yourself, then you know what's good for you and for your life. You have made the choice of a better life. You deserve it. Too much pain Kim. Enough. Time for peace and happiness. Did you go to AA? Don't let people upset you with their stories. You mentioned it in the past. Stay sober Kim, whatever you feel. It gets easier. Sobriety slowly heals our bodies and our souls. All the best. Hugs.
