I know happiness isn't "the end all . . . be all" . . . as one of my relatives would say. . . . But I've had a really rough day and I needed to remind myself of this. . . . “For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Quotes for Reflection:
“It isn't what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.” ― Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People

“Prayer of an Anonymous Abbess:
Lord, thou knowest better than myself that I am growing older and will soon be old. Keep me from becoming too talkative, and especially from the unfortunate habit of thinking that I must say something on every subject and at every opportunity.
Release me from the idea that I must straighten out other peoples' affairs. With my immense treasure of experience and wisdom, it seems a pity not to let everybody partake of it. But thou knowest, Lord, that in the end I will need a few friends.
Keep me from the recital of endless details; give me wings to get to the point.
Grant me the patience to listen to the complaints of others; help me to endure them with charity. But seal my lips on my own aches and pains -- they increase with the increasing years and my inclination to recount them is also increasing.
I will not ask thee for improved memory, only for a little more humility and less self-assurance when my own memory doesn't agree with that of others. Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be wrong.
Keep me reasonably gentle. I do not have the ambition to become a saint -- it is so hard to live with some of them -- but a harsh old person is one of the devil's masterpieces.
Make me sympathetic without being sentimental, helpful but not bossy. Let me discover merits where I had not expected them, and talents in people whom I had not thought to possess any. And, Lord, give me the grace to tell them so.
Amen” ― Margot Benary-Isbert

Hey Pt,
dont think ink I have welcomed you to the forum. I have been away for a while. I do read and I do love all your quotes that you put in.
Staying strong when first deciding to give up drinking isn't easy. I remember very well, pacing the floor, so wanting a drink. Got PAWS didn't have a clue what was going on. Now I'm a bit smarter:-) well when it comes to drinking and smoking I don't do either now so I am very proud of myself.
20 months not drinking and 3 months not smoking today:-) so life is so much easier. I can go to a pub and have a coke, doesn't bother me anymore. I'm not a slave to smoking anymore, it ran my life.
so now I just enjoy the simple things in life. So whenever you think you are having a bad day, just remember it will pass and tomorrow you will be so proud of yourself for not letting it get the better of you.
this is a great place and has wonderful people, so stay strong and good luck.

Hey Pt, your avatar, it reminds me of something relaxing, to unwind, get excited. Can you explain the picture for me. angelina Hey Angelina,
I found that picture last summer online. I was looking for some ideas for shade plants and saved that image to my computer. I love their backyard. The shed doesn't look as though its used for more than gardening items. If it were mine, I'd clear it out and make use of it as a guest house or a place to get away from it all. . .
It looks as though the owner has partitioned their backyard and the space closest to the camera includes hedges, hostas and maybe pink Impatiens. The portion behind the trellis looks as though there are more potted plants and hostas. I looked back at the picture and it's not especially clear.
I'll share another picture tomorrow of another shed. It's lovely.
Take care and enjoy!

Hey Kim! High Five!
Earlier this evening, I was lamenting the fact that I had been inside my classroom all day . . . without windows. I caught a bit of the sunset as I was leaving work and driving home. As I walked the puppy, this evening, the sky was cloudless and the stars were bright. . . . Just a gorgeous sight. . . on a fall night.
One day at a time . . . Kim . . . One day at a time:)
