Hi pt, I suppose it seems like you're talking to yourself around here sometimes. I just wanted to tell you that I have enjoyed reading your "Quotes for Reflection". Thanks for posting them. You seem to be doing well. Mark/Jeyu Hi Mark/Jeyu,
Thank you. I really appreciate your message. At the end of the day, I'm searching for just the right quote to help me focus on my goal of staying sober. Ron is my mentor and I'm working on the steps. All of you all have written posts. . . made statements. . . that I recollect when I am having a rough moment. Today, I was counting meetings and Jenn reminded me that the meetings are for me and no one is keeping track of how often I go. . . .
Enjoy the day! pt

Strongpines, There are several members that I know of who are interested in your method of recovery, Blue and Dot. There may very well be others as well. Blue has done a lot in incorporating Yoga into her recovery. I'll bet she will be around soon. Each of us must follow whatever methods work for us to create our own personal recovery program. If it works, it works. Mark/Jeyu

Yes, thank you for the posts. Does seem like a real quiet forum. A lot of chatter on the other sites. Here, though people come and go. . . everyone is on the same level. Sharing, learning, and encouraging. Hope you stick around. I'll be home this evening if you need to share/talk. You know this . . . you've made the decision that's going to impact the rest of your life. . . a life of sobriety.

Quotes for Reflection:
“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. . . . ― Paulo Coelho

Quote for Reflection:
“Insist on yourself; never imitate. Your own gift you can present every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life's cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another you have only an extemporaneous half possession. That which each can do best, none but his Maker can teach him.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance

Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life And supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen.

Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.” ― José N. Harris
Thank you for sharing strongpines. I'm so glad you found the forum. Isn't it great that there isn't one way to approach a new and healthy life: sobriety? Several of the members meditate. I believe my reflection on scripture and its meaning in my life are considered meditation. My version of yoga/stretching are slowly becoming a part of my routine . . . .
Whatever method you work, will work. . . if you work it. . . (You already know that!)
Take care of yourself.

Thank you for being here. Right now I'm listening to some lovely music, reading some meditation books and holding on.

That sounds wonderful. You're doing just fine. Continue to hold on to the feelings you have right now. That's a gift.

Well, my son sprung for Pizza Hut. . . Good enough for dinner. Hope you are having a good day strongpines. . . or a day that is good enough. . . .
The sun is shining here. My puppy has tired herself out by running up and down the stairs . . . chasing her ball and her favorite new toy - a random rock she found outside. . . my floors . . . sigh!
Take care. . . one day at a time!

Hey PT My dog plays with rocks too! Also my window blinds, socks, and his food bowl As for Pizza Hut, Sounds like your son has the same nutrition sense that mine does. But I wouldn't look that gift horse in the mouth either. It's nice not to have to cook once in a while. And your walnut brownies should be a great end to the day! Go lions?

Wow I feel bad for your Aunt! I'm not a superstitious guy but if curses are real, somebody put a big one on them 58 years ago when they last won something. Do I still tune in every week? Yup. I know exactly how your Aunt feels.
Fall and baking go hand in hand for sure. Where I'm from, it also means Apple cider, doughnuts, baked squash with butter and brown sugar, canning veggies from the garden and lots of time in the woods chasing deer, turkeys and pheasant. Best time of year by far for me.

Auntie is a die-hard fan. . . curse or no curse . . . She's going to cheer for her Lions!
Oh. . . wow . . . homemade apple cider and donuts, etc. Love . . . this time of year.
Now, I don't know if you've had Southern cooking before . . . but during this time of year, my mom and her friends get together and have a feast to celebrate the season. . . Note: I'm not referring to Thanksgiving . . . .
Here's the menu: gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish, catfish, red beans and rice with Andouille sausage, macaroni and cheese, greens, green beans with chunks of potatoes and bacon, yams, etc. and dessert: lemon cake, banana pudding, chocolate cake, and an assortment of pies.
Okay. . . Fall is most definitely the best time of year . . . no matter the region. . .
May you and yours enjoy the day and the season!!!

WOW. That is some menu. I lived in South Florida for about 10 years and had some friends from Louisiana. They turned me on to the wonderful world of southern cooking. That sounds like quite a feast. Thanksgiving must be something to behold around there! I made a jambalaya about a month ago. Complete with crawdad tails, shrimp, chicken and Andouille sausage. It turned out awesome. Now if I could just find a decent pecan pie around here...
