Hey TuTu,
My iPad and phone dropped the link so I thought this place had closed its doors for good. Thanks Brett for sending me he link again. TuTu, don't worry about the scammers. There is somebody bigger and badder than PJ and Buddy T., the FBI.
Congratulations on your new venture/adventure. I have absolute confidence that you will be a big hit. You'll probably be franchising a year from now. When you do, be sure to come to Texas!!!

J, Two years is a big deal. For me, it was about the time I felt like I had gone through enough periodic near relapse experiences, and fought through them successfully, than I began to have some confidence that I could make it through anything that life could throw me without alcohol. I have actually had to laugh at the few cravings that I've had since then. My addicted brain may never completely give up alcohol, but I have. As you well know, it's a good feeling. Congratulations!!!! Mark/Jeyu

Brett and Yvan, i wish this place had a little more traffic because both of you do an incredible job of describing the benefits of sobriety. Those still struggling would/will most certainly benefit from your posts. There are as many ways to attain a sober life as there are those of us who have done so, but the one thing that we have in common is that we quit drinking. If I were a betting man, I would bet that someone will read your posts and say, "Enough is enough; it's my turn!" I have yet one more confession. I'm a betting man. mark/Jeyu

"How should I celebrate 3 years of sobriety? Should I shout about it from the mountain top? Should I phone a friend? Should I go out in the street and extoll the virtues of clean living? Impose my opinion about this on anyone who will listen? Should I pretend it’s a non-stop joy fest? Or should I post about the reality here, at the place that made it possible? Yeah, I guess I might as well."
Well brother, option number 2 would have gotten you a much quicker CONGRATULATIONS!!! Like you, I counted on and appreciate the words of wisdom from the left coast, but Michigan and that land down under certainly came through as well.
Enjoy your sober life, my friend!

Mark, You mentioned ICON. I was wondering how he is doing these days. That guy really pissed me off; so much so that I went out and found sobriety. Mark/Jeyu

Wow, it's been a while. Too long. I even had to try several passwords to log in.
I agree with Mark that stress can undermine sobriety, but only if we let it. I understand work related stress because I live with it as well. It was certainly a contributing factor to my alcohol abuse, but it was also a primary factor in my admission of alcoholism. When drinking, I basically avoided finding the answers for work related stress. This avoidance just seemed to exacerbate the stress. I handle it much better these days because I am sober and can develop strategies to better deal with it. Oh, and Congratulations!

Wow, I'm happy I decided to drop by the old neighborhood!
Hi J, Brett, TuTu, and Mark,
I hope some of our other old friends will see this and decide to post. It's so good to hear that everyone above is doing well. I'll be three years this April and that is hard to believe. Not that I have made it three years (well, I guess that too), but that amount of time has gone by so fast. I have absolutely no regrets for quitting drinking. Actually, I have very few regrets for the years that I spent drinking either. I've pretty much forgiven that Mark and moved on. I do find that my life is easily divided into two distinct periods, much like BC and AD.; maybe it should be BQ and AQ. I can tell you enequivocally, the AQ years, though they have been few, have been the most rewarding.
They say the very best friends are the ones who you don't have to talk to all the time to maintain a friendship. You guys are just that to me.
Later friends,
Mark/Jeyu

Kim, I'm a little late here but congratulations! You've got it this time. Just remember that there will still be a few temptations to come, but always remember the personal strength it took for you to get to this point and know that you can overcome any temptation to drink. Mark/Jeyu

Hi Kim, I was just checking in to see how you have been doing. As you can see, even though this forum is far less active than it once was, there are still people pulling for you. Count me among that group. Mark/Jeyu

Kim, It really sounds like you have successfully crossed a major threshold in the life of a recovering alcoholic! Without a doubt, you will have more challenges to come, but look back on this one to give yourself strength to make it through the next one. Congratulations! Mark/Jeyu
