Kim, This is the most activity that I’ve seen at this place in the last year. I, for one, will begin checking in daily again. Mark/Jeyu

Hello msthing5 and Becca, Not to minimize your comments and concerns at all, but surrounding yourself with a support group who have overcome alcohol addiction may be just as important or more so than medications, at least it was for me. I was able to overcome this addiction with the help and support of people such as Brett on this forum. Others have found success through AA. I could not do it by myself either. I had tried and failed multiple times, but the last time, almost four years ago, was successful. Don’t give up. Keep trying. The rewards of a sober life will be well worth your struggles. Mark/Jeyu

Becca, I’m sorry that no one has responded to you; perhaps I am the first to see your post. This place has been pretty quiet for a while. I just checked in and saw your post. Becoming sober involves dealing with life without the crutch of alcohol or drugs, and yes, that can be a scary proposition, but there are many who will come along and tell you that it can be done. When I quit drinking almost four years ago, I was scared as well, but I was more fearful of what I was becoming as an alcoholic. Becoming sober the most difficult thing that I’ve ever done, but it was the most rewarding in so many ways as well. Best of luck in your decision. I hope you choose a sober life. At 20, you have many great years ahead of you. Mark/Jeyu

Kim, Good to hear from you. I’m happy that you are in AA if that’s what works for you. Whatever it takes. I’m doing well; I’ll be four years this month. Those years sure went by fast, at least after the first 6 months or so. Mark/Jeyu

Mark, That’s quite an accomplishment, but thinking back, I’ve never known you as anything other than a clear thinking, articulate, sober, genuinely good guy. Congratulations! Mark/Jeyu

Hey TuTu, A late congratulations! I finally had a chance to sit down and find this place again. My old link quit working. I’m so glad to hear that the business is going well and that you sound happy. One of these days, I’m going to walk in as a customer, but I doubt I’ll be biking in. Maybe I’ll ride in on an old horse. Who knows. Later, friend. Mark/Jeyu

Ang, I wish I had your kids' emails. I would send this post to them. I continue to think that someday, somehow, they will get to know the wonderful sober person that you have become. Mark/Jeyu

TuTu, "There is is absolutely nothing I miss about drinking. Nothing". What an inspirational quote and I completely agree. Merry Christmas! Mark/Jeyu

Well hello friend, TuTu, You have a big head start from Tasmania; 18 hours ahead? Canada, South Africa, China? Wow. I hope you are keeping a guest book. It will be fun to look back years from now and see where all of your customers have come from. Maybe you'll get one from Texas and a few from Michigan someday. Here's hoping! Mark/Jeyu

Hi PJ and TuTu,
After several failed attempts, I was able to log on. Maybe the site thinks I am printing money these days. Yes, the forum has been a benefit to many of us. I remember those first few weeks of withdrawal almost 4 years ago like they were yesterday. There were times when I was hanging on minute by minute, checking the forum, hoping that someone would post something to give me strength, anything to hold on to until the next day. You two and many more always came through. I too have developed friendships that will last a lifetime through my association with this place and will always be thankful for those who always had the will to share their experiences, knowledge, and compassion. I feel that the most valuable asset that we have is our time, because that is the only thing that can't be replaced. I figure that most people can always work hard and make more money, but once time is spent, it is gone forever. So thank you to all of those who have generously contributed their time to help me and so many others who have previously struggled with addiction. Speaking of time, maybe since this place is slow, we should set a date for all who are still checking in periodically to visit the site and say hello. I propose the 1st day of every month; open to all who have or have had a problem with addiction. See ya'll December 1st.
Later, friends. Mark/Jeyu
