Hello Mark,
well I must say I'm a bit worried about Trump. Are you serious, could he actually win? What are you all thinking?
at first it was a joke but now I'm worried he might become president, now that is scary. Could we just postpone the elections until you come up with someone decent please.
i just shake my head every time is see Trump, but now they are saying down under that it looks like he could win.
Mark I think you should run, maybe Canada, or come down under. tassie is lovely this time of the year.
Anyway I'm not sure what will happen but maybe you Americas will wake up and smell the roses and it will just be all a bad dream:-)
good do to see you Mark. Where is Sparrow hiding lately?
love ya

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to tell you all that Mark/Jeyu has achieved 2 years sobriety. I also want to tell you all how proud I am to be able to call him my friend. He has worked hard to achieve sobriety, it isn't something that just happens, it has to be worked at, each and every day until it gets easier. Mark that is amazing, you are amazing.
so I thought you all should know. Another musketeer makes it, sparrow is not far behind, 2 more months and he will also be 2 years sobriety.
i know Mark has been awfully busy! work! family! rain. But I thought this would let you all know that being sober and happy is obtainable.
anyway congrats Mark.
love ya,
ang/ tutu

Hi TuTu and All, Thanks. Yes, I am now two years. The second sure went by a lot faster than the first and has been much easier as well. I feel very fortunate to have had the good timing to quit drinking during a time when the old forum was full of people with knowledge and experience, willing to lend both to the newly abstinent. Not that I'm against it, but I have still never attended an AA meeting. The help, support, and friendship received through the forum provided me with what I needed to obtain a new life of sobriety. Instead of trying to list everyone who I should thank, and inevitably leaving someone out, I'll just say that if you are or were a member of the forum, I learned from you and I thank you. If it's worth having, it's worth working for, and sobriety IS DEFINITELY worth having. Mark/Jeyu

M/J, congrats on 2 years! I still believe the only true requirements for recovery are desire, willingness, openness, self-honesty, and effort. A little guidance along the way never hurts, but a formal program isn’t always necessary.
Part of my ongoing recovery maintenance routine is to check in with this site every day or two. I have to admit I miss the old days. I dabble around on the SR site a little, but it somehow doesn’t have the same sense of community that this forum once did. I appreciate Pam’s dedication in posting inspirational quotes here on a regular basis, but for me it’s really no substitute for ongoing dynamic interaction between members, with a good balance of newcomers and old-timers. That’s what makes an online forum a viable recovery asset, IMHO.
Oh, and Tutu, I agree 100% about Trump. I, too, am mystified regarding how many seemingly intelligent people have discarded their critical thinking skills in favor of raw emotion. It doesn’t take a doctorate in history to figure out that bad things happen when a world power is run by an arrogant bully.

Hello everyone, just wanted to to drop in and give a very overdue update. Tomorrow I will be 11 months smoke free, who would have thought by taking it a day at a time I could do it. I am much healthier and don't miss it at all now. Nearly 2 1/2 years no drink and now the smoking, not much more to give it lol. so I have been painting. Run out of walls at home so trying to come up with other avenues. At the moment I have been asked to paint a one meter tall PENGUIN. Yes I know that hard to believe but Tasmania has a celebration in September. Mawsons Hut, so there are 20 large penguins and 5000 little penguins, all going to be around the Mawson Hut. Then at the end of the week they are auctioned off, money going to the Mawson Hut to keep it running. the penguin is made of fiberglass, I picked it up on Monday, penguin (hubby) was home to help me. Too many penguins lol. So it's in my room sitting on the table. I have given it an undercoat of paint, not an under coat lol. See I haven't lost my humour. i will post a picture of it before it goes to auction. It will make the news over here, it's quite a big event for Tassie. We are still very happy living here. My work is going well, although I would rather stay home and paint but I have to work just to pay for it all:-) penguin s loving his job, still flying all over Australia so as long as he is happy I'm ok with it. What's not to like. I don't have to worry about cooking, have the bed to myself, go to bed when I want and get to watch what I want on tv. Life can be sweet when he isn't home as well. Lol now the forum is seriously quiet. No traffic at all. Obviously no one out there has a drinking problem, or won't admit they have a drinking problem. So until they do that, it's a very quiet forum. I see Yvan and Sam have popped in. Kim you also. Hope things are well for you. I think if I remember it's your birthday soon? SParrow is also 2 years tomorrow, so a big day for him as well. I hope you stop by Sparrow and give us a story. I miss what this place had to offer. So many once, now only a couple. But life does go on. Mums one year anniversary coming around soon, I miss her every day. You don't know what you have until you lose it. Famous words but so true. So many families live together but don't know much about each other. When was the last time you really listened to your spouse? Gave them a long hug, long kiss. anyway. Tutes in tassie is still alive and kicking, enjoying each day. I will try and include one of my latest paintings, well it won't let me. I will try again later. tutu/Angelina

is my penguin I am painting at the moment. You sort of get a picture at the size of him and that is just his front done. The back will be black with flicks of colours through it, Jackson pollock style. I got him a hat today and his feet will be colour full as well. All colour, loud and proud like me lol. tutu

Hello everyone, last few days I have been painting the penguin, statue penguin not hubby penguin lol. Anyway it's nearly finished. We go on holidays next week and I have to have it finished so when we come back I can drop him off to the Mawson hut for the celebration which isn't until the 8thSeptember. He has to be vanished and dry before handing him over. I call him Pete the penguin or PP. lol so in between painting and housework I got to work on some old tiles I had in the garage. So I decided to paint them with alcohol ink. i am finding the smell of the ink really hard to take. Could that be that the brain can't take the smell of alcohol? so I thought I would take a picture of them and show you. Nothing special just different. Really enjoyed doing them. so all good down under. We had a big storm last night. Lost power. Today I had to follow hubby in the car and it was snowing. My first trip driving in the snow. It was very special. i will soon be 12 months smoke free. With the knowledge I have learnt here about drinking, helped me with the giving up the smokes. I am now enjoying being a non smoker. Not having to rush off everytime I could to have a puff. It really did run my life. so here are the tiles. hope everyone is happy and loving life. If you are not then it's time to have a look and change it. If your seeing double you are lol. For some reason I downloaded the same picture twice. :-))

Wow Ang, those tiles look fantastic. I think you have really developed as a painter. I can't believe it was snowing when I thought it was cold up here!

Hey Kim, yes i I know snowing and I drove through it. Those tiles came out pretty good for my first try. Alcohol ink has a mind of its own, I put it on the tile and then light it up with a flame and it burns the alcohol. It's very cool. I still had a lighter in my draw from when I was a smoker lol. I like to to experiment with different things, if I don't like it I just go over it. Bit hard with the alcohol ink though. i have been doing a few art lesson over the Internet, tutorials, amazing what you can learn. Tutu

Hey Ang, Another beautiful painting. I've got no idea how alcohol ink works but you are definitely branching out. I didn't realise you could do art lessons over the internet so I might have a look once I get going more on my course. When do you go away? I've never been to Perth but had a friend who moved there so I've heard a lot about it.
