Hi guys, I have just over 2 days (60 hours) sober. I know it is not much but it's a start. Not feeling 100% but got bitten quite badly by a stray cat last week and still on antibiotics so this may be part of the reason. It feels like I have been waiting for something to ping in my head and that all of a sudden I wouldn't want to drink anymore. Meanwhile the years roll on and I look at a very large red faced sweaty stranger in the mirror every morning. I have a photo from my brothers wedding in 2008. Very slim in a nice dress. I posted it on Facebook and my friends asked who it was!! Have put on at least 4 stone since then.
Anyway just wanted to share. This forum helped me a lot in 2010 when I detoxed while changing jobs. I am glad I found it again. Jude

Hi Jude, Welcome back. I guess you're over the worst of it by now, I'm sure you know that alcohol alters the effectiveness of antibiotics so it's good that you're not drinking whilst taking them. Bitten by a cat heh.. that sounds a bit freaky. Two days can be the beginning of a new life if you want it more than you want to drink.. you could say goodbye to that red, sweaty face for good and look instead into your own healthy "brighteyes".
Take care for today, hopefully you'll let us know of your progress.
Jenn

Hi Jude, 2 days is a wonderful start. You've proven to yourself before that you have what it takes to do this. Reach deep down and utilize that strength again. You've already begun ! Please keep us updated as you feel up to it. Beth

Hi Jude, 64 now i think and that's just great. you've stopped before so you know it can be done so you have that going for you as well. there were many times, well daily for years, that i wanted something...anything to make me stop drinking but there never was. i had no DWI's, no major health problems, no mother telling little JoeY to stop it...only me to make it happen. keep at it Jude never stop trying.

Hang in there Jude, 60+ hours is a very good start, it will get better with time just don't drink.
You know the saying "The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step".
Best,
Sam

Yes, but I was thinking a step implies walking, who's going to walk a 1000 miles? It should read "The journey of a thousand miles starts with ...gentlemen start your engines!"

And each day you stay alcohol-free is another victory, and another, and then another. Good for you. Keep going, you can do this!

Mark, I just wrote a post to you in "Hi" but it doesn't appear to be there. Could it have gone to private messages .. though I didn't think we could do that here. ?? Oh well, I hope you're well. :-)
