Hello I would like to welcome you to our new forum. We have just moved in so I am not sure how to really use this place yet but I do know that we are a lovely bunch of people.
when I decided to give up drinking I thought I better find out what I was to expect. Withdrawals, didn't know much about it as I had never given up before. So I joined our old forum and soon learned what was happening. I also learnt very quickly that I. Could never have " just one drink" one would mean 100, so I decided that I would never drink again. That was 18 months ago now and I'm so glad I did.
with the help of many people here I learnt a lot about myself, about my past and I have made some wonderful friends here.
so if you are reading this and would like to have a chat. Please come join us, jump in on any discussion. We are all getting use to our new home, some are still just reading and finding there way.
Angelina aka Tutu.

Hi Angelina, thanks for starting this thread! It's a great place to welcome new people to the forum, and I'd like to add my open arms as well. I hope newcomers will feel comfortable coming here. It was a warm safe soft place for me to land when I hit rock bottom, and I hope I can pass along some encouraging words and a good example for people yet to come, just like was shown to me when I first got here.
xoxo Dana

Hi TuTu and Dana, I would like to add my name to the welcoming committee. MOST of us have "New Member" by our names anyway. (By the way, thanks Dana, for moving much of Preicless Pearls over. I have copied quite a bit of several threads, but have not yet had the time to move it over). I would love to hear from some of our more recent members on the old forum as well, such as J, kklove, Petuny, and others (no intentional exclusions). I hope they are doing well. Mark/Jeyu

Tutu I think you should write a suspense novel! Hey, we need to put out a call to some of our newer members from the old forum, J, Petuny, kk, etc., unless they are here somewhere. If so, I haven't seen a post from them lately. I don't get email notifications like on the old forum when someone posts to me, do you? If so, I probably need to change something in settings. Hey Jeyu,
morning. No I don't get notification either. But I think when you reply unless you put TuTu up the top it could be to anyone.
suspense novel? Well I was going to tell you all but then I thought my news is SO BIG that I just can't tell you all in one short sentence. Have you seen a map of Australia and Tasmania?? This person is coming all the way down under, all the way.
HUGE NEWS HUGE.
so,until,the next episode.
love ya

jeyu0422 and angelina1512 and all: we found out how to "tag" someone in a post, and then they get a little notification that they've been tagged, and a link to go right to that post. Maybe that's the best way to get someone's attention? I don't know... there's a lot of new features about this site that we have yet to discover I think! To tag: place an @ symbol immediately before the login name. It has to be the login name and not the screen or nickname. The login names are all lower case and may have some numbers. For example my screen name is Dana but my login name is dana. You can hover over someone's screen name and their tag name will show up. Anyway, then you see at the top of the screen, the menu: Home Participated Messages Members Profile Search Help ... when someone tags you, you will see a little number next to "Profile"; click on that and it will take you to your notifications.

Morning/evening everyone,
I have noticed a few new names and I thought that if I write something here one of you might come out of the woodwork and tell us a bit about yourself.
i know when I first started joining in, I was scared but everyone made me feel so welcome and I soon settled in.
18 months later I still come and have a look and update Tutes in Tassie. So please if you would like to jump in and chat, you would be welcomed with open arms. Not only has this place helped me give up drinking but it also helped me to give up smoking. What I have learnt here has changed my life.
i have also made some wonderful friends and there is always room for more of those.:-))

Hi, I am newish!! Was on the forum in 2011 and remember GrandpaDave getting ill and Joey and Caht getting married and also the lovely Teri god bless her. Have been to rehab since then . Back at work as a nurse but still struggling. I had terribly painful feet and some people may remember me because of this. Whatever it was it resolved itself and I still don't know to this day what it was!! Glad I found the new forum and hi to everyone. Jude Hi Jude, welcome back! I do remember you, and I'm happy you found us at the new address. I'm glad to hear that your foot problem is resolved, but sorry you're still struggling. Did you mean your job is a struggle, or your battle with alcohol? Again, I'm happy to see you and I hope you stick around.

Thanks PJ. In a better place now away from London but still struggling with the alcohol. Do JoeY and Caht still post and Iconoclast? I remember that you are a writer and at the time I was on the forum we had a lady called "Susan" who was really in a bad place. We all tried to help but I think she just disappeared. There was also a girl called "Charlotte" who did a home detox!! Sorry to bring up so many people from the past but I am interested..
I hope you are keeping well. I am glad to be back!

I'm so sorry about your continued struggles. I know how difficult it can be to completely rid your life of alcohol, but I can also tell you how much better life is without it. Knowing what I know now about how great sobriety feels, I wouldn't touch the stuff anymore, even if I'd never had a problem. Alcohol just doesn't appeal to me at all, and I really love feeling that way. You can get to that place too, Jude. It takes motivation, patience, sweat, hard work, and time, but you can do it. You asked about some people who used to post, one of whom was Icon, whose posting privileges on the other forum were revoked by the moderator. JoeY has signed on a couple times and posted once or twice. He and Maria are in London now, although they live in the U.S. Hopefully one or both of them will start posting again, although after Dave died, JoeY was so heartbroken he didn't care about being part of the forum anymore. We'll see if he changes his mind. I don't remember anyone named Charlotte. And if you mean the Susan I think you mean, I haven't heard from her in ages. I think I've answered all your questions. And yes, you're correct, I am a writer. Again, welcome back!

I asked Buddy to move Angelina's thread from the Off-Topic folder because (A) it is very much ON-topic, and (B) I thought it would be more likely to attract newcomers if it was over here. So even though it says "created by" Buddy, the original creator was Ang.
